Nathanael chopped down our
Christmas tree from above our garage the
Saturday after Thanksgiving -- and this year
anyway,
it didn't fall on the house.
And, as usual, it was huge. |

With December came wrestling
season and Nate is
starting off where he left off last season when
he
qualified for the State championships. In the month of December,
so far Nathanael has
9 wins (8 by pin) in 13 matches at 130 lbs.
He took 2nd at the "Power House" tournament
Christmas week at Lake Roosevelt High School in
Coulee Dam, WA. (He led the BCS Cross
Country team to
4th place at State this year.)

Diana decided a box of ornaments is just her
size.

The annual Sleight family
Christmas party, on the 23rd, again at Don and
Judy's, was an especially musical affair.
Here's Susan on the violin, Jeannie on
her oboe,
and Lance Ellis on the French horn. |
Debbie (Sleight) Ellis
and Lance were married this summer.
She plays the guitar. Nathanael's
instrument is his voice.
He sings in the BCS Concert Chior. |

← Jon and his wife Sarah
have a musical family.
Two of their kids, Taryn and Samantha, both play
flute.↑ |
Family friends Arlene Grant and Mitsuko Hasagawa
join Nancy, Ginger, Jean, and Randy in singing.
|
Judy plays piano.
Grandpa Dick enjoys our annual
Christmas carol sing-along. |
Judy's exquisitely decorated tree makes
a great backdrop.

Back home again. Well, I
said it was a big tree.

After 3:30PM church at UPC on
Christmas Eve, we made our
annual Christmas visit to Grandpa and
Grandma's house.
My dad and mom keep three of
my early attempts at NW Indian Art
on their living room wall.
Randy showed us an heirloom quilt
he nearly gave away at a church rummage sale.

George
N. Sleight
died at the battle of Gettysburg in 1865.
My
grandfather Richard Riddell Sleight died in 1918
due to the Spanish flu epidemic, five months
before his son, my dad, was born.

We took another spin through "Candy Cane Lane"
on the 24th.

What's in the big heavy box
from Don and Judy?
A "sea otter" planter, well-designed in the
Haida style.
|
My dolls still like dolls.

We enjoyed a festive ham dinner at 1:00PM at
Susan's on Christmas Day.
|
A very common sight. |
Celebrating Christmas was tiring work. |
|
Christmas lasted longer when
the present opening moved from house
to house. The kids got wonderful
Norwegian sweaters.
We now all highly recommend
our
new board game Carcassonne. |
We all took the celebration to Emerald Heights
to include Aunt Ellie (97 next February).

My girls. Our debate is how tall will
Jeannie Beth grow? |
